After just barely passing Assembly, the Nevada Legislature did not get around to passing AB238. The bill in question would’ve created film tax credits in Nevada, incentivizing film studios, including ones from Hollywood like Sony, to expand into Las Vegas. Talks of expansion into Vegas has already been discussed by several studios and producers, including Mark Wahlberg. This comes as little surprise, as Las Vegas has already been a hotspot for Hollywood films decades ago, and is currently the home of productions such as Tulsa King starring Sylvestor Stallone. Vegas also has a robust indie and start-up film community, and has acclaimed film programs at CSN and UNLV. AB238 would’ve not only given a boost to the local film community, but also tourism and many industries with the influx of people pouring in for the film community.
